Farmer Jim's Story

Farmer Jim Newman and his wife, Lynn, are life-long residents of Sharkey and Issaquena Counties. A seed of an idea blossomed into a three-acre pumpkin patch and thousands of pumpkins. A farmer since his early days, Farmer Jim knew the wonders of cultivating plants and thought producing the pumpkins could be a positive impact on the community. The couple of 30 plus years of marriage reside in Rolling Fork, MS and have two grown children, Leslie Newman Dees, who lives in Kosciusko with her husband, Paul, and Lisa Newman Holland, who lives in Madison, MS. We have now added Landry and Lorelei to our list of little pumpkin pickers.

Farmer Jim's Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is an educational agritoursim venture that showcases a working farm and is fun for not only families but for school and church groups. Those that visit can pick their own pumpkin close to our store front or travel on a hay ride down the patch for a wider selection. We also have a corn maze, a smaller kiddie maze and a haunted maze. In addition to regular orange pumpkins, we also sell gourds and heirloom pumpkins. We also have corn pools, children's swimming pools, filled with corn and a hay bale maze for the little ones.
